Terms of use
Using Arc
These terms are an agreement between you and Cleus (“we”, “us”), the company that makes Arc. By creating an account or using Arc you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Arc.
Arc is not medical advice. Arc is a personal companion for goals, habits, health and fitness. It isn’t a medical device and doesn’t diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. Health numbers, blood test summaries, food and body estimates, workout suggestions and anything Arc says are for general information and motivation only. Always check with a doctor or other qualified professional before making medical decisions, starting a new diet or exercise programme, or if something worries you. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
1. Who can use Arc
You must be at least 13, or older where the law where you live requires (for example 16 in some EEA countries, and 18 in India). You must be able to agree to these terms. If you use Arc for someone else, or on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you’re allowed to.
2. Your account
Keep your sign-in secure and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You’re responsible for what happens in your account. You can export your data or delete your account at any time in the app (You → Privacy & data).
3. AI can be wrong
- Many of Arc’s features use AI: chat and calls, reading your voice briefs and journal, plans and reviews, food and body estimates, reading blood test reports, voice notes, roasts and stickers. AI makes mistakes. It can misunderstand you, get numbers wrong, or say something that isn’t true or isn’t right for you.
- Arc labels estimates as estimates, and asks you to confirm important ones. Check anything that matters before relying on it, especially about your health, your body, food, training, money or other people.
- You’re talking with software, not a person or a professional. Arc isn’t a therapist, doctor, dietitian, trainer, lawyer or financial adviser.
- If Arc says something harmful or offensive, please tell us at founder@cleus.ai.
4. Health, fitness and safety
You take part in any exercise, diet, fast or other activity at your own risk. Listen to your body, stop if something hurts, and get professional advice if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, are recovering from an injury, or have had an eating disorder. Pay attention to your surroundings when recording a run, walk, ride or hike, and don’t use Arc while driving in a way that distracts you.
5. Your content
What you put into Arc (entries, recordings, photos, reports, messages) stays yours. You give Cleus permission to store, process and display it only to run Arc for you and the people you choose to share with, as described in the privacy policy, including having our service providers (such as our AI providers) process it. When you share something publicly (a profile, a commitment link, a card), you let the people you share it with see it. You confirm you have the right to the content you add, including any photos or information about other people.
6. Acceptable use
Don’t use Arc to:
- break the law, or help anyone else break it;
- harass, threaten, bully, impersonate or harm anyone, including through buddies, squads, witnesses, roasts, gift calls, shared links or cards;
- upload other people’s medical records, photos or personal information without their permission;
- post or generate sexual content involving minors, hate, violent threats, or content that encourages self-harm or eating disorders;
- try to get Arc’s AI to produce harmful content, or to extract its instructions, keys or other people’s data;
- access Arc in ways we don’t offer (scraping, automated accounts, reverse engineering, probing or overloading our systems), or get around its limits or security;
- resell Arc or use it to build a competing product.
There’s no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You can report anything someone else shares, or anything Arc’s AI writes, from the “···” menu next to it, and block anyone from the same menu. We review reports within 24 hours, remove content that breaks these terms, and suspend or end the accounts behind it.
7. Other people and other services
You’re responsible for how you treat the people you connect with in Arc. We aren’t responsible for other users’ content or conduct, but we may remove content or accounts that break these terms. Arc works with services you choose to connect or share to, such as Apple Health, Health Connect, your calendars, Instagram and Snapchat; their own terms apply to them.
8. Ending your account
You can stop using Arc and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account, or remove content, if it breaks these terms or the law, puts other people or Arc at risk, or if we have to by law. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to export your data first. We may also stop offering Arc, or parts of it; if we shut Arc down, we’ll give you notice and time to export your data.
9. Changes
Arc changes often. We may add, change or remove features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before the change takes effect. If you keep using Arc after that, the new terms apply.
10. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, Arc is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. Features, AI outputs and syncing with other apps may sometimes not work.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Cleus won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Arc, including from decisions you make based on what Arc or its AI tells you. Our total liability for any claim about Arc is limited to the greater of what you paid us for Arc in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer where you live.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you live in the EEA, the UK or another place whose consumer protection laws give you rights that can’t be waived by agreement, those rights still apply, and you can bring claims in your local courts.
13. App stores
If you got Arc from the Apple App Store or Google Play, their terms also apply. Apple and Google aren’t parties to these terms and aren’t responsible for Arc or its support. Where you downloaded Arc from the App Store, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
